 Are we there yet?

It seems like every year starts out the same: I hope for change, I make some effort at change, and I have some fear of change.  But as the years roll on I start noticing—nothing really changes.  Sure, events change around me and circumstances are always evolving, but I am still myself!  Every single year!

That is because we are resilient.  Our brains, bodies and hearts resist change, much as we sometimes desire it. We tend to sort our years into good changes and bad changes—that was the year my daughter was born, for example, or that was the year my father died.  But all change is stressful.  Why? Because we fear that each change could change us for the worse, even if we desire it.  Ironic, isn’t it?

When I first learned Resilience Training using HeartMath techniques ten years ago, I physically boosted my body’s natural resilience to cope with stress better. In a matter of weeks, I was less affected by my stressful job, recovered faster from stressful situations, and kept myself more centered.  Now that was a good year!  Fast forward to 2017. Now I am a HeartMath Certified Coach and I can coach you in these same techniques. It only takes 4 weeks to make a significant difference in how you respond to stress.
